The Women of Color STEM DTX Conference is committed to establishing a strong foundation for the STEM pipeline and extending it to pre-college students, particularly those who face social and economic hurdles that may hinder their pursuit of a career in science, technology, engineering, or math. The conference collaborates with STEM-related enterprises, military personnel, and universities, bringing together pre-college students through conference attendance. Students participate in interactive, competitive activities that instill a sense of enthusiasm and encourage them to consider STEM careers as genuine vocation choices.
The pre-college program also features STEM professionals who can visit classrooms to share their own career journeys, providing valuable insights into working in STEM fields and answering student questions.
We welcome inquiries on how you can join us in this initiative.
As a college student, participating in the Women of Color STEM DTX Conference can be incredibly beneficial for your career goals. This event is a major recruiting opportunity where you can connect with STEM employers, professionals, and advocates who are eager to help you advance. Attending the conference will expose you to new career opportunities, provide inspiring events, and even help you secure a job or internship position. Additionally, you'll have access to mentors who can guide you in pursuing your STEM goals. Don't miss out on this chance to learn, grow, and connect with the WOC STEM community and potential employers. Regardless of your ambitions, there is something for every student. Ensure you register early to take full advantage of this opportunity.
Let us start by defining your goals for attending a conference. Perhaps you are not sure that there is any value to attending conferences, especially with your academic workload. We’ve heard from many students over the years telling us how important their participation in professional conferences was in helping them to take the right steps in planning for life after college. Here are a few first-person accounts. We’ll let you judge for yourself.
We highly recommend a comprehensive experience of the conference, which offers full access to all activities over three days, both in-person and on the conference platforms. By paying a fee of $100, you will have the opportunity to attend all events, including the career fair, seminars, workshops, and networking events. This is an excellent opportunity to meet recruiters, executives, and professionals to network and explore potential job opportunities. The online career fair and access to all seminars and recognition events on the conference platforms is available for a fee of $50. We suggest consulting with your school to verify if you qualify for reimbursement of the conference registration fee. Early registration ensures early notification from employers about open positions and other offers.
For more information about becoming a college coordinator, please review the Women of Color College Coordinator Handbook.
If you're looking to connect with recruiters, we suggest attending the Job Seekers Experience. Recruiters will be present both online and in-person on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You can access the platform starting on Thursday, which will enable you to check out all the exhibits and obtain information about the companies you're interested in meeting on Saturday. You can register as a job seeker for free and receive notifications regarding job opportunities and available positions. Please note that the 2024 WOC Technology Expo will be conducted in-person at the Detroit Marriott and online on the WOC STEM DTX platform.
